Garnering financial support for a study

A design/route exploration study is a necessary first step in the process of funding a full design and contruction of a safer crossing of SR 14 that more seamlessly connects the two ends of the Interurban between Shoreline (King County) and Edmonds (Snohomish County). Such a route study will cost an estimated $150-$200,000, and would examine potential routes, types of crossing (bridge/tunnel/improved at-grade) and how an improved crossing meets ADA requirements, connectivity, equity and other considerations.
We’re confident that a bridge will be cheaper than a tunnel and both will meet ADA slope requirements that will be impossible to achieve by simply revising the existing at-grade crossing at Meridian/76th: the slope north-south is in the 12-14-degrees range. ADA specifies five
