Woodinville plans new bridge as part of trail expansion

The City of Woodinville has announced plans to build two miles of new trail on an abandoned railroad right-of-way. The plans include dismantling an existing railroad bridge on the former Burlington-Northern east side rail line and replacing it with a new, longer span that will allow the city to widen a road that passes below the bridge.

The design for the bridge was chosen following a public hearing and a survey in fall, 2023. Cost estimates are under development for the chosen design and construction is slated to start in 2025, with completion by late, 2026.

The new bridge will add two miles to Eastrail under development between Redmond and the Snohomish County line. When completed, Eastrail will run for 42 miles in total and connect to the Centennial Trail at the City of Snohomish.
