Successful city council and mayor’s bike ride in September
City elected officials from Edmonds, Mountlake Terrace and Shoreline took part in a bike ride to see first-hand conditions riders and walkers face getting between King and Snohomish counties by wheel or foot on the Interurban Trail.
Edmonds mayor Mike Nelson rode his mountain bike and was joined city council members Will Chen, Susan Paine and Dave Teitzel; Shoreline was represented by council member Doris McConnell and Chris Roberts; Mountlake Terrace council member Rory Paine Donovan, a committed bicyclist, also took part.
Edmonds Bicycle Advocacy Group set up the ride to provide city council members a view-from-handlebars of the conditions riders face when trying to negotiate the Interurban between King and Snohomish counties. It also provided a chance to see how by using existing right-of-way there could be a more direct, safer and more appealing connection that would open up the trail to many more people.
